Chris Simms

I am the Knowledge Services Lead for the Strategy Enterprise and Innovation (SEI) subject group in the Faculty of Business and Law. I am also a Reader in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship and fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

I have undertaken collaborative work with a number of organisations within the public and private sectors. In particular I have extensive experience working on Knowledge Transfer Partnership projects.

My current research is primarily in the arena of innovation management and new product development. In particular, I am exploring innovation within low and medium technology industries and the food industry such as product and process innovation, packaging development and innovation, sustainable product development and eco-innovation, and developing products for the elderly

Career highlights

  • I have written over 15 refereed journal articles published in highly ranked journals, related to innovation management and new product development. I have also published articles related to Marketing and Sales Management.

  • In 2013 I completed my PhD examining the management of packaging within new product development in the fast-moving consumer goods industry. I am currently supervising a number of PhD projects in areas linked to my research interests.
