Studying online

Our part-time, online courses are designed to fit around you. You won’t need to move house or get a visa to study with us. You can access your course from anywhere in the world through Moodle, our easy-to-use Digital Learning Environment (DLE). This is possible because all our modules, learning activities and assessments are delivered online.

To ensure the course fits around your lifestyle and commitments, all our course modules are divided into manageable weekly sections.

When you start your course, you’ll have access to our student adviser team. They’re available over the phone or via Moodle to answer your practical queries about online study. They’re also your go-to for tips on maintaining a healthy study/life balance and accessing specialist University support services.

No, you won't receive a timetable. This is because with our courses, you can study on the days and times that suit you best. Learning activities and forum discussions can be fitted in around your job and other commitments. Every week, you'll have the option to join a live webinar, but these are all recorded and can be watched back at any time.

You can find information about the qualifications you need for your Master’s course on the specific course page. We understand that not everybody arrives at their postgraduate education in the same way, so if you have relevant professional experience in your chosen subject area and want to apply based on that experience, we may still consider your application.

We offer three course start dates a year: January, May and September. You have the flexibility to decide the start date for you.

Application deadlines are listed on the relevant course pages. But it’s worth getting your application in as early as possible to ensure you’ve got time to assemble your documents, make additional arrangements if you receive a conditional offer, and prepare for your course.

Check the application process page for information about the documents you need to submit.

You can get in touch with our course adviser team byphoning +44 (0)23 9400 3692, or emailing info@study-online.port.ac.uk to ask about your application’s progress.
